Remuneration: £30,000 to £32,000 per annum
Hours: 35 hours per week
Location: Powell Cotton Museum, Quex House and Gardens, Quex Park, Birchington, Kent. CT7 0BH
Contract: Permanent

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Head of Operations to join us at the Powell-Cotton Museum, Quex House and Gardens. The Head of Operations will lead and manage the existing operations team to deliver a customer focused organisation and exceed the expectations of its priority audiences.

The Head of Operations is responsible for managing the safe and efficient day-to-day running of the museum, including the implementation of the museum’s Health and Safety policy, the maintenance of the entire site and infrastructure, and the security and safety of the buildings, visitors, staff, volunteers and contractors.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, approachable and highly organised person to join our small team. The successful applicant will be a good team worker but also self-motivated and ambitious. They will be a natural leader who can deliver a high-quality visitor experience. They will be flexible to deliver a range of tasks and able to support evening and weekend activities where needed. They will be willing to learn, have expectations regarding performance and delivery and should be able to demonstrate a keen approach to personal development and training. They will lead by example and set a professional standard which our staff and volunteers can step up to.

The Powell-Cotton Museum is an Accredited Museum which is home to one of the most scientifically important collections of natural history and ethnography in the world. In addition, Quex House and Gardens compliment the public offering as a quality visitor attraction.

Training: A Professional Development Plan will be agreed with the Director. This will include training, mentoring and new professional opportunities.
Start/end date: This post is permanent. A probationary review period applies for all new staff.
Additional Benefits: An allowance is payable should the post holder meet the requirements and accept the role of Call Out Keyholder as part of rota.
