Development Tutor - Schools
£27,830 - £32,236 per annum pro rata

Are you qualified in teaching or training with experience of working with schools and young people? Do you have an understanding of the challenges around widening participation in higher education and a desire to make a difference in this area?
This Development Tutor role is externally funded by the Office for Students via the National Collaborative Outreach Programme (NCOP). The first phase has been extended until July 2019 and we are waiting upon confirmation of funding for the second phase.
As Development Tutor, you will contribute to the development and delivery of the Kent and Medway Collaborative Outreach Project’s (KaMCOP) curriculum within schools and Further Education Colleges across Kent and Medway. The role will also see you supporting the project to meet its core objectives primarily through contributing to the development and delivery of NCOP’s outreach programme, and ensuring the provision for target students is of a consistently high quality.
As Development Tutor (Schools) you will:
- deliver existing NCOP programmes in schools and FE Colleges and maintain strong links with schools, colleges and community groups
- work with subject specialists to develop events and activities
- undertake the practical administration of outreach activities including the preparation of materials and programme evaluation
- travel extensively around Kent and Medway in order to lead a range of sessions and events in collaboration with the wider NCOP team
To be successful in this role you will have:
- a first degree and a teaching/training qualification or equivalent experience
- experience of working in FE Colleges or informal education settings, working with disengaged and/or challenging young people
- experience of innovation and creativity in a large and diverse partnership-based events programme
- clear, engaging and concise communication and presentation skills
This role is fixed term until 31 July 2019.
The Partnership Development Office is responsible for supporting the implementation of the University’s widening participation strategy and for developing partnerships in the region, with a particular focus on sub-regional partnerships, in support of this strategy. The Partnership Development Office is part of the EMS comprising the Recruitment and Admissions Office, the Publishing Office and the Scholarships and Foreign Loans Office.
