About the role: If you are currently seeking a role which allows you to support students by using innovative methods to develop their learning skills, please continue to submit an application as we are seeking to recruit a Cover Teacher to join Mascalls Academy. Our successful applicant(s) will work under the guidance of teaching staff within an agreed system of supervision, to implement work programme with individuals/groups in or out of the classroom including the supervision of whole classes during the short term absence of teachers.

Working under the direct instruction of the Professional Mentor, your role would be to support access learning for pupils and provide general support to Teachers in the management of students. Learning Mentors need to be able to respond positively to change in order to meet the needs of students and help them overcome particular barriers to their learning.

GRADUATES: If you are a graduate and considering a career in teaching then a Cover Teacher position could be the ideal way to gain classroom experience and decide if education is right for you. As a graduate you would undertake the role, normally in your specialist subject area, and work closely with a mentor to maximise your learning. If you decide to commence your teacher training we will put you in touch with our recommended provider, KMT who will help with your application and guide you through the process.

Working at Mascalls Academy: Mascalls Academy is an 11-18 fully comprehensive day school with a large Sixth Form. It has a maximum annual intake of 240 boys and girls and is over-subscribed. Courses of study are provided according to individual needs for the GCSE examination and at GCE A Level and A/S Level, leading to admission to Universities, including Oxbridge or specialist professional training. Mascalls is normally the nearest appropriate school for pupils of all abilities living in Brenchley, Matfield, Capel, Five Oak Green, East Peckham, Horsmonden, Lamberhurst, Yalding and Paddock Wood.
