Organisation details
Southborough Pre-school is a Charity run Pre-school set at the heart of a thriving neighbourhood. The Pre-school has close ties with the local community and works closely with local childminders, other local pre-schools and the nearby primary school. The main aim of the pre-school is to provide exceptional childcare in a safe, friendly and stimulating environment.

Role details
As a pre-school key person you will be responsible for the educational input for our pre-school children at foundation level. You will take on responsibility for the safety and welfare of both children and other staff members in addition to equipment and the pre-school environment. As part of the pre-school staff team you will be responsible for the high quality education and care we offer and for communicating progress of children’s development back to parents / carers.

Roles and responsibilities
• Plan the curriculum along with the staffing team and integrate its components.
• Plan and execute a weekly adult led activity with the children and effectively record and evaluate the educational progression of the children in your care using an observational app on iPads.
• Prepare suitable activities in the setting for the Pre-school children on a sessional basis. As part of the team at this pack-away setting you will expected to carry out some moderate lifting of equipment. This will be to set the room up on a Monday morning (from 8am) and on occasion, if required, pack-away the equipment on a Friday afternoon (until approx. 4pm) - ensuring safe set-up, clearance, some cleaning and storage of equipment after use.
• All staff, with enhanced DBS checks, to be available to assist in toilet needs of all children, including nappy changing.
• Prepare snack for the children, as part of a team rota, and support children during snack and lunch.
• Ensure children’s safety at all times, and be fully aware of all possible dangers / risks
• Attend parent’s evenings and interact positively with parents / carers / children / Pre-school committee members etc – be polite: offer advice when required: offer support and information in a professional manner: be sensitive in areas of confidentiality.

Personal Specification
• Proven relevant and recent experience within an EYFS setting
• Min Level 2 qualified in Early Years
• A satisfactory enhanced DBS check
• Sound understanding of child development and children’s needs
• Ability to work in both a team and independently both with
children 1:1 and in groups
• Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of
individuals
• Hold a current First aid certificate or be prepared to undertake
training and take responsibility for ensuring it is kept up to date.
• Keen to further their learning in early years through attending
training courses.
• Enthusiastic, energetic and warm.
