BRAKES GROUP - TECHNICAL DEPARTMENTJOB PROFILE: Technical Services TechnologistREPORTS TO: Head of Technical Services & Product Safety
Role Purpose Statement
To provide a comprehensive technical support service to internal and external customers ensuring the accurate sourcing, collation, analysis, and presentation of technical data.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:
- Provide a technical service to customers and enforcement authorities including data and spec provision for both Brakes and Vendor brands, dealing with technical queries and complaints issues
- Support the Technical Managers by providing, analysing, and reporting on technical data and information
- Support the review, evaluation, and compliance with, company technical policies including document control management
- Maintain an awareness of current legislation and carry out audit work to establish compliance of Brakes brand product and systems with relevant legislation. Conduct `Horizon Scanning` of issues.
- Conduct technical department internal and external due diligence audits including data evaluation and reporting
- Co-ordinate and provide information for product recalls and serious incidents as required together with post incident review and process improvement
- Take on technical projects as directed by the Head of Technical Services & Product Safety
- Support the coordination of product surveillance programmes liaising with suppliers and contract labs as appropriate
- Development of the Assure technical portal to ensure its suitability for changing business and legislative needs
- Use of the Assure technical portal to maintain spec and supplier data, conduct spec audits and carry out database searches as appropriate. Assure
- Carry out supplier visits as appropriate to verify compliance with Brakes standards and policies
Key Performance Indicators:
- Provision of accurate and timely information as requested
- Accurate and relevant analysis of data
- Completion of projects to the set deadline
- Implementation of identified service or process improvements
- Positive feedback from customers
- Proactive management of key accountabilities
Knowledge, Skills, Experience, Competencies:
Essential:
- Degree in Food Science/Technology, or similar
- Minimum 3 years relevant industry experience
- Competent IT skills covering MS Office, spreadsheets, and databases
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong planning and organization skills
- Accuracy and attention to detail
Desirable:
- Tenacity and a desire to follow things through
- Experience of supplier and product management in foodservice, retail, or manufacturing
