We are looking for kind, caring, community based Carer Support workers to join our team at Crossroads Care; the leading charitable provider of Carers’ support services in Kent, supporting Carers, and the people they care for, in their own homes.
We pay £14K pa pro rata for unqualified staff, increasing to £15K pa pro rata for holders of an NVQ 2/3 in care. In addition we pay travel time and mileage allowance. All training is paid and overtime is available. Enhanced overtime rates are paid for waking night hours.
Our caring, community based Carer Support workers need to be flexible and to be able to work under their own initiative, in order to properly support family Carers, and the people they care for, throughout East Kent.
Our role is to enable Carers to have a regular break from their caring role, whilst providing a positive caring experience for the person they care for. All staff have their own portfolio of regular clients, enabling strong caring professional relationships to develop over time. Most families benefit from a whole, morning, afternoon or evening visit every week or weekend – no more task and finish 15/30 minute calls!
We offer an array of regular, guaranteed hour contracts (minimum 24 hours - 8 families), a competitive hourly rate, and the opportunity to do extra hours and waking nights with our Urgent Care team on an ad hoc basis at enhanced rates if you choose.
Good quality training is provided so no previous experience is required, but we do pay extra for NVQ qualified staff.
Crossroads have an amazing Urgent Care team who support Carers in crisis and who help people to come home from hospital earlier. Our flagship 24 hour rapid response support service for Carers, and people with dementia, (funded by GP's), is held in high regard by both health and social care professionals, and helps to prevent unnecessary admissions to hospital and residential care homes.
Career opportunities to progress to more senior roles within this team are available.
Wherever possible, work will be provided locally, but in order to meet the needs of our Carers, you may sometimes be required to travel within East Kent.
Crossroads run COGS clubs in Dover for people with dementia, offer pre bookable replacement care for Carers to be able to take time to look after their own health, and operate a thriving volunteer support service for Carers and people with long term health conditions, or terminal illnesses, in partnership with both Macmillan and the Pilgrims Hospice.
