JOB TITLE: Contracts Manager
REPORTING TO: Managing Director
LOCATION: Orpington, Kent office and various site locations
Working for a small, friendly, family run construction company specialising in the fit out of healthcare installations which is predominantly focussed around medical imaging. Our core business is the specialist fit out works to MRI scanners, CT Scanners, X Ray & Endoscopy departments. We specialise in these core areas and whilst previous experience in this area is not essential, the suitable candidate should be able to learn quickly and adapt to new systems and environments.
ROLE:
Reporting to the Managing Director you will be responsible for managing all aspects of the assigned projects so that they are delivered as per the contract program and standard required by our clients and to the financial budget contracted for.
The role would suit somebody who has progressed from a trades background looking to develop their career.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Contracted hours are 48 per working week, however occasionally you may be required to work additional hours depending on the needs of the business which is sufficient to cover the successful completion of the contracts under your control. In certain circumstances you may be required to work at various site locations around the UK which may involve working away from home.
• You will be responsible for preparing, updating and meeting all previously agreed contract work programmes.
• The suitable candidate will have excellent written and oral communication skills and be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, Excel and Outlook. The use of Microsoft Project and Auto CAD would be beneficial but not essential.
• You will be responsible for supervising and providing support to the Site Manager/Foreman at each contracted project.
• You will be responsible for selecting suitable sub-contractors to carry out scheduled works and liaise closely with the quantity surveyor during the periods of gaining quotations, placing orders, identifying incidents of delay to project works, variations, valuations, obtaining confirmatory instructions for all works requested.
• Ensuring control measures and proper procedures are being consistently employed on site in respect of health and safety, site paperwork and control of all direct and indirect labour.
• Meeting hospital agents, officers, clients to discuss any elements of an existing or proposed project and record and action to the client’s satisfaction.
• The nature of the work involves a large element of design and build projects and the suitable candidate will be able to identify design changes and provide sketch solutions to general problems arising during the works.
• The majority of the works involves a large element of Mechanical and Electrical installations and whilst this work is undertaken by specialist contractors a good knowledge of M&E is essential.
• Being proactive in the nurturing and development of employees as well as identifying potential site supervisors and managers.
• Carry out any reasonable duties as and when unforeseen circumstances arise, such as covering other positions during holiday and absenteeism.
PACKAGE
• 21 days holiday in addition to paid public holidays in the first full year of service, which will increase by 1 day for every full year worked to a maximum of 25 days.
• A company car will be provided for business and personal use.
• Salary negotiable for suitable candidate.
