We are recruiting in association with the local Council for SEASONAL OPERATIVES for the 2016 season, which is anticipated to start on or around 4th April.
These positions generally run through until September/October, weather dependant. We have vacancies for Folkestone, Hythe and New Romney Teams.
We are searching for individuals who want to work, with a good work ethic, who can demonstrate good levels of reliability and who will ultimately commit to the entire season.
Any previous gardening experience would be useful, as would any experience using industrial mowers/strimmers etc., with basic flower/plant knowledge helpful. Applicants will need to be physically fit, due to the physical nature of the work.
It is preferred that applicants have a driving licence, as you may be required to drive a Council vehicle in order to complete the duties and in order to get to site, each day and on time.
The position will involve but is not limited to:
Extensive grass cutting pruning, general digging, flower bed preparation, maintaining the flower beds, weeding etc., using industrial strimmers, hedge cutters, mowers and gardening machinery on an industrial scale.
It may involve the use of ride on mowers and grave digging/internments.
Basic plant knowledge helpful.
Any trailer towing experience, helpful, although not essential.
Hours/Days/Shift Details:
37 hours per week
Monday to Thursday 7.30am – 4.00pm
Fridays: 7.30am – 12.30pn (no lunchbreak)
Breaks: 1 x 15 minute and 1 x 30 minute (Monday to Thursday)
15 minute breaks paid
30 minute break (lunch) unpaid
Pay Rate:
National living wage £7.20 (April) per hour x 37 hours per week (ie. approx. £266.00 per week less any deductions)
Weekly pay, paid one week in arrears
You will also accumulate holiday pay
Work place pension
Returnable uniform and PPE provided free of charge, although own steel toe capped work boots preferred.
