About us
CaseWare UK is part of CaseWare International, the world’s leading supplier of financial reporting, audit and data analytical software to the professional accountant. We are a growing, profitable business serving clients of all sizes, from FTSE 100 companies to local accounting firms.

The role
The CaseWare development team are responsible for providing automated and compliant financial reporting and audit systems.

In addition to FRS101 and FRS102 requirements the system supports a number of vertical market specialities, the primary ones being charities, pensions and LLPs.

We are looking to add a statutory analyst to the team who will be able to plan and interpret the regulatory environment for the development department and senior management. The role has two core elements; future planning in response to the UK regulatory landscape, and the preparation of specifications, explaining how regulatory changes should be reflected in the CaseWare software suite.

The role involves a close working relationship with the product management and quality assurance teams. You will also build strong partnerships with external providers of regulatory information, and liaise with key clients, both of which may require UK-wide travel.

About you
You will be an ACA or ACCA qualified or part-qualified accountant, with sound accounting practice experience. You will have a particular interest in the accounting standards landscape and be able to translate regulatory standards to our development and product management teams in a clear way. A keen interest in technology and how it supports the work of an accounting team is essential, and you are likely to have had some experience of using automated accounts production systems.

Your skills & experience
• 5+ years’ experience in a statutory accounting or compliance role
• A formal full or part qualification in accounting
• Client contact experience
• Strong problem-solving ability
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• A strong interest in Information technology, Cloud technology, and its application within the finance sector
• Strong work ethic and an ability to work with minimal supervision
• Patient & persistent
• An attention to detail and accuracy
• Highly competent in the use of standard office IT systems
• String inter-personal skills and ability to work as a team
• You should be comfortable with change and happy to challenge existing practices
• An aptitude for learning new skills
• Commercial awareness
• Some experience of presentations and public speaking would be an advantage

We are committed to helping you maintain your professional knowledge, funding continual professional development and, if relevant, assisting with exam fees. We’ll ensure you have the necessary budget to make your role as effective and rewarding as possible.

In addition to a competitive salary, pension scheme and life insurance package you will also be part of the company profit share scheme.

Primary tasks & responsibilities
1. To identify any future statutory requirements that may affect the CaseWare product portfolio.

2. Preparation and continual management of timetable of known changes to UK and Irish financial reporting and audit frameworks, to ensure that all CaseWare teams are aware of future requirements.

3. Provide detailed product specifications to the development and quality assurance teams, enabling them to reflect regulatory changes within CaseWare financial reporting applications.

4. Continual monitoring of the UK and Irish accounting regulatory landscape.

5. Prepare regular analysis of current and future accounting standards and regulations as they affect the existing suite of CaseWare accounts production templates.

6. Identify busy and ‘quiet’ periods in the regulatory environment, to assist resource allocation within the development department

7. Manage the relationships between CaseWare UK and their third-party providers of regulatory support, in particular the Mercia Group and HAT. This will involve organising and attending meetings, documenting key decisions and reporting back to the CaseWare teams

8. Liaise with our clients with regards to compliance and regulatory matters

9. Contribute ideas for improvement to the CaseWare suite, via formal and informal product discussions

10. To liaise with the client service teams with respect to bugs and support issues that relate to the regulatory quality, scope and content of the products in the portfolio

11. Liaise with any external consultants involved in the development projects

12. Attend development meetings as and when necessary

13. Brief sales and marketing teams on any compliance matters that require clarification
