An established manufacturing company based in Sheerness has a vacancy for either an experienced Payroll person or a bright, enthusiastic and highly numerate person wishing to take on a position within Finance, with an initial focus on payroll.
This is a permanent, full time position working 0800-1700 Monday to Friday.
The role - the role will be be responsible for processing payroll and job costing of employees, maintenance of weekly employee records and preparation of payroll related reports. The payroll controller will work as a key member of our Sheerness based accounts team.
The Person
You will be demonstrate an interest in and aptitude for, or experience in, Finance and particularly payroll. Whilst the role inevitably comprises a strong element of data processing, requiring a high level of detail consciousness and speed with regard to information entry, we are looking for more than data entry - you will be able to spot anomalies and raise these with Finance/Human Resources, and have the personal resilience and credibility to deal direct with employee queries. You will have (or obtain quickly) a basic knowledge of legal aspects relating to remuneration (e.g. Working Time Directive, Minimum Wage, SMP/SPP/Sick Pay.
KEY SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
• Minimum of good "A" Level standard including maths and preferably business studies or similar/or significant experience within a payroll function.
• Absolute integrity, honesty and discretion
• Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
• Attention to detail.
• High level of numeracy.
• Decision making skills.
• Pro-active, persistent , professional and assertive approach.
• Thinks flexibly and accepts change.
• Providing excellent customer service.
• Good standard or written and verbal English
EXPERIENCE NEEDED
• Experience of working to demanding deadlines.
• Sound computer skills, including MS Office and payroll software.
• All round office experience
• Good typing/computer skills
