Full-time cook required Monday to Friday (approximate hours 11am-6pm)
Cleveland House Ltd is a large residential home for adults with learning disabilities, Aspergers syndrome, Autism and other associated difficulties. The focus is always working towards independence. People who live here like to be involved in all aspects of daily living and are expected to contribute (however great or small) to the running of the house.
We would expect the cook to be able to work with individuals who live here and enable them to assist in all aspects of meal preparation and cooking.

Flexibility and the ability to cope with last minute changes is an advantage! Training will be given in Widget and Makaton to enable easier communication with those who require it.

Duties:
 To establish means of ensuring residents are actively participating in menu selection and food preparation, ensuring that there is documented evidence proving that consultation and involvement are taking place.
 Cooking and preparing a variety of fresh nutritious evening meals and other refreshments, ensuring that residents receive food which is nutritious, of a suitable portion size, attractively presented and cooked to individual preferences.
 To respect the dignity and individuality of each resident and to provide all individuals with choices.
 Ensuring that high levels of hygiene and cleanliness are maintained in the kitchen.
 To be fully aware of all relevant legislation including the Food Safety Act,COSHH REGULATIONS and other relevant legislation.To maintain an up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation and Cleveland House Ltd Policies & Procedures.
 Washing, cutting and preparing food before it is cooked.
 Taking into account the wishes of clients when planning of menus.
 Making sure good nutritional standards are maintained when preparing meals.
 Making sure that all food at point of delivery is of the highest quality.
 Enquiring if any clients have allergies/special diets and then cooking meals accordingly.
 To respect cultural, ethical and religious dietary requirements of each resident.
 To be fully aware of and follow any dietary advice given on medical grounds, demonstrating a good awareness of individual needs, eg dysphagia, diabetes etc
 Keeping an eye on the temperature of cookers and roasters.
 To maintain and regularly review risk assessments relating to the safe storage, preparation & cooking of foods.
 To maintain faultless levels of hygiene for all utensils, equipment, work surfaces and storage areas.
 Constantly checking the quality of the food being served to residents.
 Checking staff/client to make sure they are wearing appropriate clothing whilst in the kitchen, and to dress in a manner that affords protection and hygiene
 In charge of stock control of the fridges, freezers and store rooms, ensuring that foods are stored, cooked and kept within the correct temperature levelsand consistent, accurate recordings of temperatures are maintained.
 Ordering vegetables, meats, kitchen and cleaning equipment.
 Controlling stock rotation to ensure the kitchen and larder are always well stocked., ensuring that foods are stored correctly and safely,and that food items are checked for freshness, ‘best by’ dates and suitability for consumption, prior to preparation.
 To maintain accurate records of meals prepared and any alterations to the menu for any individual.
 To report any concerns which may affect the health, safey or well-being of residents immediately to the Senior on Duty or the Home Managers.
 To attend staff meetings, individual support and supervision meetings as requested by the Managers.
