JOB TITLE:
Young Carer Apprentice – East Sussex (based Tunbridge Wells)

Applicant Criteria:
In order for the post to be funded applicants will need to be aged between 18 -24 and not in education, employment or training and registered as unemployed.

Working Hours:
37.5 hours per week, occasional need for evening or weekend working. To include 7 hours per work training - the Apprentice will be supported in and study towards an NVQ2 in Business Administration

Salary and benefits:
£Apprentice minimum wage, depending upon age, 25 days Annual Leave plus Bank Holidays

KEY AIMS OF ROLE:

The purpose of the role is to deliver a consistent, high quality service that is structured to provide timely support to enable Young Carers to achieve their full potential.

OUTCOMES OF THE SERVICE:

 A reduction or avoidance of excessive harm from caring

 Improved emotional well-being, confidence and self-esteem

 Improved educational attendance and attainment

 Reduced feelings of isolation

 That they are supported and encouraged to achieve their potential

KEY TASKS OF THE ROLE:

 Carry out administrative duties to include; taking minutes and keeping notes; sorting and distributing incoming post and organising and sending outgoing post, photocopying and printing various documents; data input onto a bespoke database

 Using software such as Microsoft works and the internet to research and maintain databases of signposting information, health information and community activities

 Update websites and social media

 Record and maintain achievement portfolio

 Admin support role across projects as required

 Plan and prepare for clubs and respite activities

 Opportunities to support team to deliver Chill Clubs (open youth clubs) and forum meetings with Young Carers may arise.

 Ability to work independently and within a team, organising work to meet targets, objectives and deadlines

 Professional and non-judgmental

 Creative with a can-do attitude

 Good organisational skills

 Good communication and written skills, ability to motivate others and an empathy with the aims of the client group and the organisation

 A willingness to work flexibly

 Personal commitment to diversity and equality of opportunities

 Excellent computer skills

 Own car/ability to drive desirable

EXPERIENCE

 Knowledge of Young Carers desirable

 Relevant personal and/or educational experience in social care, health, education, private or voluntary and community sector
