We have a vacancy for an experienced Supervisor to join our Day Visitor Operations Department. The DV Operations Department is responsible for the visitor journey from the start of their day at the ticket office, and includes staffing the castle with knowledgeable helpful tour guides, through to Janitors and Litter pickers ensuring the castle grounds look perfect.
As a visitor attraction welcoming over 550,000 every year, we take the safety of our visitors very seriously and a key aspect of this role will be responsibility for Health and Safety and Risk Assessments across the visitor route.
The role is varied but the key tasks and responsibilities will include:
compiling monthly rosters for Day Visitor staff ensuring departments are adequately staffed and costs remain within budget.
welcoming staff in for duty each day including daily briefing and communication session.
responsibility for Health and Safety for Day Visitor Department ensuring Risk Assessments are carried out for each area and remain up to date.
Checking the external Day Visitor Route at the beginning of the day. To ensure that regular walks are made during the day checking all operational areas and reporting any problems to Visitor Operations Manager.
Responsibility for the daily safety checks of the play areas, liaising with the Facilities Manager when repairs are required.
Acting as designated first aider providing First Aid assistance where required and to be responsible for ordering First Aid supplies across the estate.
Responsibility for ordering of facility cleaning supplies and maintaining COSHH sheets.
Counting cash and taking responsibility for the daily reconciliation of cash from the Boat and the Land Train.
To succeed in this role, the person appointed will need to have customer service experience ideally gained in a tourist attraction or heritage property. They will need exceptional high standards and good attention to detail. They will need to have the supervisory skills required to get the best out of the team. Strong communication and administration skills are vital and the ability to see the ‘bigger picture’ would help the person appointed make a success of this role.
This is a permanent position, working 37.5 hours each week, although as you will already know from your own experience, customer facing roles sometimes require additional working (particularly to cover holidays/sickness). The job would involve working 5 days out of 7 on a rota basis and will include weekends and bank holidays.
