Since beginning trading in 2003, Folkestone Fixings Ltd has become one of the UK’s largest independent suppliers of high quality tools, fixings and building supplies.
Our goal is to supply products at a great price, to deliver them quickly and to offer great service.
Quality is absolutely key in everything we do – and that includes making sure that our suppliers get paid quickly and efficiently, which is why we need you to join our small and friendly team.
This role is varied and includes:-
• Responsibility for the Accounts Department and the team in the absence of the Accounts Manager
• Processing purchase invoices, credits, bank receipts and customer allocations
• Preparation of daily banking and reconciliation
• Data Input onto Sage and our in-house bespoke computer system including resolving system errors and identifying possible improvements through liaison with the Development team
• Processing telephone credit card payments and daily journals
• Investigating and resolving till discrepancies as and when required
• Carrying out the weekly credit control and monthly customer statement run
• Reconciliation of supplier’s statements and control accounts
• Dealing with bad debts, credit agencies and liquidators
• Setting up new credit account applications as and when received
• Carrying out monthly and quarterly VAT returns
• Carrying out the monthly EU sales list declaration and foreign VAT returns
• Undertaking monthly Intratstrat returns, staff and overhead expenses and fixed assets control
• Answering the telephone and dealing with and resolving invoice queries for customers and suppliers
• Assisting with the Auditors on an ad hoc basis
• Emailing, filing, photocopying, printing and downloading of documents
You will have worked in an Accounts function and are possibly looking for your next step up the ladder. The ideal candidate will understand and have previous experience of manual double entry book-keeping, VAT returns (EU VAT returns would be desirable) and a working knowledge of Government Reports (ideally Intrastat). You will possess good all round IT skills, including Word and Excel, be able to deliver high quality work to a tight deadline on a “can do” basis, have excellent attention to detail and have the confidence to suggest and implement improvements to our processes.
