Have you got an enquiring mind, an excellent analytical approach and a meticulous attention to detail?

If so an exciting opportunity exists for you to become part of the Kent Police National Computer Bureau team. Successful applicants will become part of a highly skilled team providing fast-time specialist research support to the Control Room and inputting time critical updates to both national and in-force intelligence systems.

The Police National Computer (PNC) holds details of people, vehicles, property and criminal offences within the UK. The police access this database of information along with other criminal justice agencies to assist them in their work and to run instant checks on suspects they have stopped or to support their work in detecting and solving crime. The PNC Bureau operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. This means that you would be working early, late and night shifts on a 5-week rotating shift pattern of 8 and 10 hour shifts.

The ability to work well within a team environment and being open to change is essential for this role, together with excellent decision making skills and the ability to provide a high service delivery. A typing speed of 30wpm or above would be advantageous.

For the temporary position you will receive extensive training that includes some transferrable skills. Therefore, there may be opportunities for candidates to apply for a range of permanent roles at the end of the temporary contract.

Main responsibilities
• Undertake fast time research across a number of National and in-force systems to support serious operational incident allowing Police officers and staff at all levels to make informed decisions to bring about a safe and timely return to normality.
• Maintain and update PNC with requirements for Police action provided by officers and departments.
• Update Nominal records on PNC as required, primarily Wanted Markers such as persons that are wanted for offences, Missing Persons, Various Orders, Sex offender notifications and management.
• Update Vehicle Records on PNC as required, primarily updating and maintaining stolen vehicle reports
• Manage and monitor Covert Tags, creating appropriate records regarding vehicles and persons as required and liaising with Officers regarding activations
• Provide assistance to officers and other departments in order to maximise the efficient use/ deployment of staff and to provide a consistent professional advisory service to the Force.

All successful applicants will undergo management security vetting checks. Candidates must be available to join the next training course which commences on 8th June 2015.
