My Client, who manages a well known Marina on the River Thames, is now looking for an experienced Harbour Master to look after the Marina, Craft and all related maintenance and administration tasks.

The Role: Harbour Master

To effectively and efficiently operate the marina in accordance with PLA and MMO regulations and Bylaws
Arrange the daily operation of the lock gates, logging all vessel movements whether in and out of the marina or on and off the pier.
Take bookings for the pier and Marina for berth holder and visitors.
This role requires weekend working with seasonal variations
Allocating berthing positions for long and short-term visitors, to ensure best use of Marina capacity to maximise income.
Ensuring Marina Certificates / Berth Application forms are completed correctly
Authorising and issuing of invoices for berthing (monthly or in respect of long term berth-holders in advance).
Operating the harbour gates / bascule bridge in accordance with published times of high water, on a seven day basis.
Ensuring River bus berthing area to the Pier is kept clear during operation hours
Administrating bookings by charter vessels for the Pier and subsequently invoicing based upon the number of passengers actually carried.
Maintaining a water level of 2.5 meters in the Marina Basin.

Skills / Qualifications / Experience: Harbour Master

Harbour master qualification.
Boat handling certificate required.
At least five years experience on the River Thames.

Days of work change during the year because of tidal restrictions, but always 5 days.
Hours of work are 7-4 but some flexibility is required.
