PHP Developer, Web Developer, Software Developer
I am looking for a PHP Developer for a large company based in the Maidstone area, you will be developing, testing and maintaining all existing websites and applications as well as developing them from scratch.
You will be contributing technical and functional input to new designs as well as other web-based applications in support of various marketing campaigns and initiatives – including mobile optimisation and apps/games.
You will test and quality assure all implementations – pro-actively finding and fixing bugs, making changes and updates in response to internal and external demands.
Database administration (creating, modifying database tables and fields).
Your main task will be the development of software to the product range. Your work must be of a very high quality and follow programming standards
A variety of diverse web applications are created and run on the AWS infrastructure. Databases range from MySQL, PostgresSQL and MongoDB. Application code is predominantly written in PHP. Libraries include Yii, Zend and PEAR
User interface enhancements are achieved through hand coded Javascript and OpenSource Libraries like JQuery, Twitter and Bootstrap. There are also library plugins to enhance these further. Version control essential for all code and is being stored in Subversion or Git format depending on the project. We use our own custom framework extensions as a basis to build applications.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS
Knowledge of object oriented development
Knowledge of Internet/web technologies web browsers, XHTML, HTTP and JavaScript.
Ability to work on your own initiative as well as part of the development team.
Working knowledge of Agile Development and/or an enthusiasm to learn
DESIRED SKILLS
Experienced in multiple languages, ideally Ruby, Java and Python
Participation in open source projects
Knowledge of frameworks, Yii, Zend, Symfony and Rails.
Social Media Facebook Connect, integration, Facebook apps, Twitter etc
Google Maps, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube integration
Version control experience
Experience in Continuous Integration / Unit Testing / BDD
