The Role:
You will be an integral member of the Design & Print Centre team, providing an essential printing service to University departments and also to external customers. The main purpose of your role is to provide a responsive service which fully meets the requirements of clients both internal and external.
The Person:
You will have demonstrable and relevant experience in delivering in-house printing and finishing services, with the ability to operate B&W, Colour and finishing equipment to a high level, unsupervised. It is essential that you have a clear understanding of Health and Safety matters relevant to printing and finishing and be able to use technical and non-technical language appropriate for the differing knowledge levels of colleagues, suppliers and customers.
A good general level of education, ideally GCSE at Grade C or above or equivalent in English and Maths will be required and it is key that you have the ability to act as a point of reference and support for any temporary staff working in the unit. Working on the front desk it will be essential to understand in-house branding styles and apply this knowledge to evaluate designs and advise on changes required, as well as having excellent customer awareness and the ability to focus on the necessity to provide a high quality service at all times.

The Estates Department provides a number of essential services to the University of Kent and is responsible for managing, maintaining and developing the infrastructure and building fabric of the various campuses.
The Department has responsibility for the maintenance and upkeep of the extensive grounds and buildings, the security of students, staff and visitors, transport and travel; a postal service and the telephone exchange as well as the University Design & Print Centre. It is also responsible for the buildings, new developments and construction projects both at Canterbury and at our Medway campus at Chatham Maritime and on the Chatham Historic Dock Yard.
