The Destination Thanet Coast project aims to develop visitor experiences based on Thanet's unique coast and associated heritage assets that will draw visitors throughout the year and encourage people to explore and increase their stay. The activites will engage people and reduce seasonality.

Main Duties:

The post holder will be based within the Economic Development Team and work with partners, stakeholders and the local community to identify needs and deliver a programme of activities that meet the targets within the project scope.

The main requirements of the role are to plan, organise, coordinate and promote the Destination Thanet Coast, Coastal Communities Funded project focusing on the Heritage activities across the district.

The post holder will project manage activities delivered along the coast line, promote the project, engage with and manage volunteers to support delivery and implement some delivery.

This post is a potential job share: one post linked to ‘coastal volunteer support and development’ (2 days/week) and the other post on ‘coastal education and nature-related events’ (3 days/week). Please state if you would be preferred to be considered for either.

Essential Requirements:

Knowledge
##Interest and knowledge of the heritage assets and offer in Thanet
##Knowledge of good practice in volunteer management, including recruitment processes and procedures
##Experience of project management, escalation and resolving issues
##Event management
##Building communities using all methods of media
##Understanding of community development and capacity building of groups/individuals
##Working knowledge of policies, procedures and good practice associated with working with children, young people and adults.

Skills
##Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with a range of people
##Ability to handle public enquiries
##Motivating and coaching skills
##Ability to effectively plan, monitor and evaluate project with proven project management skills
##Negotiation and influencing skills
##Ability to manage competing deadlines and priorities
##High level of attention to detail – ability to prepare comprehensive reports
##Ability to analyse problems and develop creative solutions

Experience
##Planning, delivering and evaluation projects and programmes of work
##Building, motivating and managing teams of volunteers
##Developing strategies for volunteers development in support of organisations objectives
##Planning, coordinating and delivering of outdoor events
##Building and developing relationships with key stakeholders – internally and externally of the organisation
##Developing and managing staff and teams
##Managing budgets
##Experience of working collaboratively in order to deliver key objectives
##Confident and efficient working alone, and as a member of a team
##Good levels of administrative and organisational skills
##Ability to multi-task, react quickly to different situations
##Proficient computer skills, notably Microsoft Word and Excel
##Experience of coordinating or training volunteers

Preferred Qualifications
##Academic qualifications to minimum degree standard or equivalent in a relevant area
##Certificate or proven delivery in First Aid and Health and Safety
##Full, Clean Driving Licence and use of car to visit external sites (not always easily accessible via public transport) from the main office and carry equipment
