Our client is a charity providing affordable loans, mortgages and financial services. They are seeking a Loans Advisor to join them on a part-time basis (3 days per week) on an 18 month contract. Applicants must hold the CeMap qualification.
They are a small team who work with a number of local authorities to administer an affordable loans scheme which enables vulnerable people in society to stay in their homes and live independently. All loans are secured via a first or second charge mortgage and as such they are regulated by the FCA.
They abide by strict lending criteria and have robust policies in place; their main focus is the customer and ensuring they are not put in financial difficulty. For every loan applicant, they complete a site visit and a financial assessment.
The role of the Loans Advisor will be off site, based around the area covering Kent and East Sussex, in particular Thanet and Hastings. It is anticipated that a few days will be required at our client’s office in Portsmouth to meet the team and have some initial training. For the benefit of both parties it is anticipated that the successful candidate will need to visit the Portsmouth office once a month/every other month.
The key responsibilities of the Loans Advisor are:
• To work with other agencies as well as local authority partners in managing the delivery of suitable housing renewal assistance for vulnerable people.

• To make visits to customer’s premises, and to visit off-site locations as and when required.
• To promote the work of the organisation when required.
Employment terms:
• Applicants must have a clean Driving Licence and use of a vehicle.
• CeMap qualification.
• 21 hours per week, although full time may be considered if the role expands
• Fixed term 18 month contract. Option to extend should role expand.
The Loans Advisor will be mobile, therefore home based. However the post holder shall also be required to travel to client homes and to the offices of other organisations for the purposes of delivery of this service from time to time.
The post holder will be required to attend the Portsmouth office for quarterly meetings.
The post-holder may be required to work across the group’s area of delivery, which currently (March 2015) is Hampshire, Surrey, Sussex, Kent and Essex. However the designated local Authorities are within the South East Local Enterprise Partnership geographic area; currently Eastbourne, Hastings, Thanet and Tendring.
