The Background:
The Total Reward Group was founded in 2005 and this position will provide maternity cover for 6-12 months working alongside the Director and Senior Consultants in providing Reward advice and solutions to a wide range of private and public sector clients. This spans the whole spectrum of Reward including:
• Reward strategy
• Pay benchmarking
• Pay and grading structures and pay progression
• Bonus/sales incentive plans
• Long term incentives
• Job evaluation
• Benefit plan design
• Total Reward Statements
The Role:
1. Research and Analysis
• Researching data sources, market practice and other benchmarking information – internet searches and accessing salary survey information
• Data analysis (primarily Excel based), including interpreting results and developing recommendations
2. Development and Design
• Providing input into the development of reward programmes, based on an understanding of the client’s business and culture, as well as best practice
• Cost modelling of plan options
• Drafting documents in Word or Powerpoint to present options/recommendations to clients
3. Client Interaction
Although the role will be primarily office based, there will be opportunities to attend client meetings, typically accompanied by a Director or Senior Consultant, to:
• Take a brief on their consultancy requirements
• Gain an insight into the business model, culture and strategic direction of the organisation
• To obtain the views of key stakeholders within the organisation
• Present findings, plan design options, or recommendations
4. Project Management
• Assisting with the assessment and preparation of project timelines for agreement with clients
• Writing or helping with the preparation of proposals for client work (either following a preliminary meeting or telephone and email contact with the client or in response to an invitation to tender)
• Managing smaller projects alone, albeit drawing on the support of others as required
5. General Administration
All professional staff share in the following responsibilities:
• Maintaining client files
• Printing, collating and binding of documents
• Diary management – using a shared calendar on Microsoft Outlook
• Assisting with general office management
• Business travel arrangements
The Person:
The successful candidate will possess:
• Experience of working as a Reward Analyst in a large multi-national organisation, ideally with some exposure to all areas of Reward
• Experience must include pay benchmarking and the use of salary surveys, and an understanding of the methodology used by different survey houses
• In addition, some HR Generalist experience would be helpful
• A responsive, client focused approach
• The interpersonal skills and ability to develop effective working relationships with clients
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Mature judgement, i.e. having sufficiently reliable insight into people and the workings of large organisations to know the right things to do and say
• Flexible and adaptable to the changing needs of the business, with the attitude and good humour which is essential to a team working environment
• Administratively well organised, being a completer finisher with a considerable ability to prioritise tasks
• Highly developed MS Office IT skills, in particular an accomplished Excel user
• Numerate, with good attention to detail
• Resilient attitude i.e. not easily blown off course by unpredictable work flows or tight timescales/deadlines
• Ability to work on various client projects at one time, and quickly switch from one to the other to meet different and competing deadlines
• A proactive “can do” attitude and a willingness to go the extra mile when required
