KCA Psychological Therapy Providers provides a wide range of high quality, innovative primary care mental health services and is the South East’s largest employer of Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners. As part of the national IAPT programme we are recruiting trainee High Intensity and Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners across our Kent and Medway services. There will be a compulsory recruitment day as part of the recruitment for these roles, please see the bottom of this advert. This is an exceptional opportunity to access high-quality training as part of the roles.

IAPT Trainee High Intensity Therapists (Agenda for Change Band 6 increasing to Band 7 on successful completion of the years training) (Ref 395-15)

High Intensity Therapists are trained to deliver high intensity psychological interventions at Step 3. The training is focused on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and trainees will deliver evidence based psychological therapies to enable Kent service users access to psychological assessment and interventions for depression and a range of anxiety disorders. The role involves an academic element – necessitating two days per week based at Christchurch University (Salomons Campus at Tonbridge Wells) and the remaining three days within the service. The course requires trainees to be able to meet masters level postgraduate requirements. Applicants should have a professional qualification in mental health, social care or other core profession or be able to meet the Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes competencies expressed by the BABCP and National IAPT implementation team. Please see the BABCP website for further information.

IAPT Trainee Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners (PWPs) (Agenda for Change Band 4 increasing to Band 5 on successful completion of the years training) Ref: 396-15

PWPs are trained to deliver low intensity interventions such as guided self help, telephone support and brief 1:1 psychological interventions to people with anxiety and depression. During your training year, you will spend one day per week at university. The training will be provided by the University of Surrey (teaching to be held in Detling). The remainder of your working week will be spent applying your new skills, with supervision, in the IAPT services in our Kent and Medway sites. The course is at postgraduate level so you will need to be able to demonstrate your ability to study at this level. You must have some experience of working (paid or unpaid) in a mental health service or with those experiencing mental health difficulties.
