Intervenor – Children’s Home
42 weeks per year, 40 hours per week
Pay Point 11 (£10.01 per hour) – 14 (£11.53 per hour)dependant on experience
The Intervenor’s role is to provide a customised, responsive and high quality service to children who have multiple sensory impairments and / or learning disabilities, so that they are able to access learning opportunities. Post holders will be required to work with deaf children on a one to one basis providing support and reinforcing the important aspects of lessons, facilitate opportunities, support, assist in promotion of independence, liaise with external parties, communicate / advocate on behalf of the young person and accompany on activities as required.
Accredited Intervenor training is an essential requirement of this post as are CACDP qualifications and qualifications in Hearing Impairment, Visual Impairment and MSI. An NVQ Care Level 3 Children & Young People (or to be working towards this within 6 months of employment) is essential for the Children’s Home. The ability to deliver accessible activities for Deafblind children and to communicate effectively with external parties is expected in this role.
The successful candidate will have worked in a special school or residential environment and have a minimum of two years experience working with children with learning disabilities or multi sensory impairment and challenging behaviour.
