South East Water supplies drinking water to 2.1 million customers across Kent, Sussex, Surrey, Hampshire and Berkshire. Daily, we supply 565 million litres of drinking water along more than 14,000 kilometres of mains to our customers’ taps.
Working in the MEICA team you will report to the Lead MEICA Engineer and be responsible for the EICA engineers and EICA technical deliverables and design on capital engineering projects. As the senior electrical engineer you will ensure that the electrical and ICA elements of design are correct, appropriate and of current best practice whilst ensuring compliance to the engineering standards and specifications. You will also be expected to challenge, innovate and evolve the engineering standards and specifications as technology evolves.
You will be expected to manage and prioritise your own workload as well as effectively managing the workload of your team. You will adhere to Health and Safety/CDM requirements actively identifying hazards and working towards mitigation or removal of the hazard. You will build and maintain relations with your immediate peers and internal customers. You will be required to represent Southeast Water at the WIMES electrical working group meetings.
It is essential that you have substantial experience of the following applications:
• LV electrical distribution;
• Industrial Ethernet and Profibus communication network design;
• Single and multiple PLC & HMI applications (not software);
• Knowledge of telemetry & SCADA systems;
• Variable speed drives;
• ICA applications including pressure/flow/level and analytical instrumentation e.g. chlorine, turbidity, pH instrumentation and control;
• MCC / switchgear assemblies and standards.
You will ideally have gained substantial experience in the water industry or within the broader utilities, process and manufacturing sectors. It will be advantageous to have knowledge of water treatment processes and control philosophies.
To be considered for this role you will need the following skills and competencies:
• An ability to work as a team and exercise sound judgement in complex situations;
• Degree qualified in electrical engineering or related discipline or HNC/D with proven exceptional technical expertise;
• General computer literacy in MS Office;
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
• Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills;
• Influential with leadership capability and good supervisory skills;
• Full & clean UK driving licence;
• A good understanding of the legislation governing electrical safety/quality and ideally have been appointed an Authorised Person at LV.
Although this role is office based you will be expected to travel to any location within our supply areas, as required, as part of the project(s) you or your team are working on e.g. pre-construction and construction phase elements such as scoping or Contractor progress/design review meetings.
