Network Engineer – CCNA, Cisco, SQL. £40,000. My client, a large and rapidly expanding software firm based in Ashford, Kent, are looking for a CCNA qualified Network Engineer to join their team. The main purpose of the job to provide optimal value to the business by offering a high quality of platform installation and support work to their clients. This will be of a quality to continually assert the value and the benefit of using one, cohesive organisation, responsible for the software products, operating systems, hardware and network.

Main duties and responsibilities of the role include working with the architect team to maintain a high availability managed services environment, serving a large customer base. You will assist with administration, monitoring and general support and will perform installation of computer networks, firewalls and Microsoft based environments at customer sites across the UK and Ireland. This includes:

* Technical liaison internally and externally to enable clean integration of the solutions into customer sites.
* Providing consultancy on configuration requirements to customers with 3rd party IT teams
* Surveying server rooms
* Office based configuration and testing of equipment
* Assembly of server cabinets, equipment racking and cable management
* Installing new equipment on site
* Carrying out work with minimal disruption to users and within agreed maintenance windows

Provide 3rd line support to the Service desk on all platform and connectivity issues, taking ownership of incidents where necessary, including;

* Accurate diagnosis, which may require technical liaison with 3rd party IT teams
* Providing resolution to incidents in line with contractual timescales
* Attending site to resolve issues when considered necessary by Support coordination staff
* Ensuring appropriate parts for work are taken to sites
* Diligently recording all work undertaken on a system the customer is able to view
* Provision of clear and accurate incident updates internally and externally

You will perform preventative maintenance visits, that include tape restore tests and verification, Participate in ITIL based processes for change and problem management and Support colleagues with technical issues. You will assist with Pre-Sales queries and task scoping and will be responsible for stock. This includes using good practices for the handling of faulty stock and testing server hardware returned from customer sites, in liaison with support coordinators.



Knowledge and Experience:

An in-depth understanding of networking and current Microsoft Server and Desktop Operating Systems

Microsoft SQL Server 2008 installation, configuration, backups, log shipping

Cisco firewall and router configuration

Strong awareness of Information Security

Broad Server and PC hardware skills

Citrix Presentation Server 4.0, XenApp 5.0 or 6.5

Microsoft SQL 2012 AlwaysOn

Dell Sonicwall products

Backupexec server based backup and Trend anti-virus products

Microsoft Hyper-V

Microsoft Exchange 2010

Basic understanding of SQL-Transact, able to do simple Select statements.

Education / Qualifications:

* Achievement of MCSE in Windows 2003 and beyond is desirable
* Citrix Administration qualifications are desirable
* Microsoft SQL Server and Exchange qualifications are desirable
* CCNA qualifications are desirable
