Our client, based outside Tunbridge Wells, is looking for a Head chef to join their team on a full time basis. The ideal candidate will be self motivated, and able to run a commercial kitchen on a day to day basis. You will have previous experience as a Head Chef, or be ready to move into the role, having already gained experience under a Head Chef, previously working in a Restaurant or Pub. You will be preparing and cooking meals to a high standard, and from scratch using fresh produce, as well as budgeting and menu planning.
Your duties will include:
- Opening kitchen and check that all equipment is clean, working and in a safe condition
- Cook and prepare food in a safe and professional manner
- Supervise others, and be willing to train others to cook and prepare food.
- Calculate GP on menu items
- Plan Menus for daily use, and for Special Events eg. Mother’s Day, Christmas and Easter
- Order from current suppliers and source new on occasion
- Keep Food Health & Safety Diary up to date, recording food and fridge temps
- Organise Cleaning Schedule and make sure all jobs are completed on a weekly basis
- Closing kitchen down, ensuring that all equipment is switched off and Kitchen in left in clean condition.
This is an immediate start, and the successful candidate will be working a 45 – 48 hour week, involving some 11 hours shifts/days, but with no split shifts.
