Employer Description
A small friendly, family run farm shop and tea room located near to Maidstone. Harvest 4 U is a conveniently placed farm shop delivering fresh local organic produce to customers. Wendy's is located opposite the farm shop, offering a tea room on the theme of how tea rooms used to be – both local and unique. The tea rooms offer teas, coffees, cakes, light refreshments all with one main theme – locally sourced as much as possible thereby supporting local Kent producers. As part of the customer experience, all visitors are able to view and buy art & crafts created by local artists.
Description of Vacancy
We are looking for someone with an enthusiastic and friendly manner to join this small team to offer excellent customer service and maintain standards within the tea rooms. You will have the opportunity to learn a range of hospitality and kitchen skills.
Responsibilities
Greeting and serving customers
Handling hot food and cold snacks
Help with preparing foods
Clearing away and cleaning tables
Keeping work areas clean
Adhering to Health & Safety requirements
Operating within Environmental Health requirements and food hygiene aspects
Understanding food temperatures
Wage
£108.50 per week
Hours
Tuesday to Saturday, 9.00am to 5.00pm

Training Provided
On the job training with the employer whilst working towards the Apprenticeship Framework – consisting of the NVQ Level 2 in Hospitality Services, Technical Certificate and Functional Skills if appropriate. Regular work based assessments/observations carried out by Kent Training & Apprenticeships Tutor Assessor, to determine competency and meet with Awarding Body standards.
Additional Detail
From the 1st October 2012 a National Minimum Wage (NMW) for apprentices was introduced for young people aged 16-18 and those aged over 19 in the first year of their Apprenticeship. The rate is £2.68 per hour. The NMW applies to time working plus time spent training as this is also part of the Apprenticeship. Anyone not covered by the age category above will be entitled to the NMW appropriate to their age.
Important Information
The employer has asked that you do not contact them direct. Doing so could jeopardise your application. You will be responsible for your travel expenses to and from your place of work. Therefore, you must have the means to get to your place of work on a daily basis whilst waiting for your first wages to be paid.
Training on the Apprenticeships Programme for 16 to 18 year olds is a priority and fully-funded by Government. Training for Apprenticeships for those over this age is part funded, with employers expected to make a part or full contribution.
