We are looking to recruit two enthusiastic apprentice toolmakers/engineers to join our highly skilled team.
This is an exciting opportunity to gain practical work experience alongside studying towards a qualification.


The role will involve:
-Working towards the repair and service of tools for production
-Working closely with all nominated senior toolmakers who will provide appropriate training
-Working towards preventative maintenance on tooling, all aspects of machining and bench fitting i.e. grinding, turning, milling, spark erosion etc.
-Understanding and thereafter utilising precision/optical measuring equipment
-Working towards attending to a power press to identify or overcome problems whilst tooling is in a running condition
-Gaining knowledge and working towards an ability to assess and report the life of the press tool and order new parts that need replacing
-Repair and servicing of welding tools for production, fixtures, jigs and electrodes
-Observing Health & Safety regulations at all times


The Apprenticeship offers a complete introduction for the professional tool maker/engineer. The curriculum and practical work based experience will take the apprentices, step by step, through the fundamentals of tool grinding, turning, milling, spark erosion and potentially the tool manufacturing process
You will work closely with Engineers within the department and liaise with machinists and senior toolmakers in the Toolroom.

GCSE C or above in Maths and English (or equivalent) is required.
Previous qualification in Engineering is required
