The University’s Pay and Pensions office is a busy office with a payroll 2,486 permanent, 569 fixed term 3,903 variable/casual employees. It currently uses a Northgate computerised HR/Payroll package but is in the process of upgrading its existing system and has embarked on a major project to design and implement a new fully-integrated software/hardware package. The roleholder will become a key member of the upgrade project team and will be required to provide expert systems knowledge through the implementation, ensuring that internal control is maintained and that processes are designed in a robust manner. Further functional development of the system will be made in future phases of the project, involving both the roleholder and the Payroll and Pensions team.
We are looking for someone with a Chartered Institute of Personnel or Chartered Institute of Payroll qualification or part qualified CCAB, or someone willing to obtain these qualifications. With significant payroll experience and good knowledge of specialist pay and pensions (and HR) computerised systems and demonstrable experience of successful systems implementation, the successful candidate will have experience of income tax and NIC regulations and guidelines (HMRC).
We are also looking for someone with experience of working at a supervisory or managerial level and communicating on a regular basis with other managerial level staff.
