HEAD OF FINANCE
Hours:
25 - 37.5 hours per week
Holidays:
25 days per annum plus bank holidays
Key Role:
The Finance Manager will assume overall responsibility for VAWK’s finance and accounts department and finance staff
Main Responsibilities:
• The day to day management of the sales and purchase ledger departments
• Regular Bank Reconciliations
• Fixed Asset and depreciation calculations
• To supply financial input for project tendering/applications
• The management of cash funds
• To liaise with auditors, bankers and insurers
• The provision of ad hoc advice on financial matters in general
• The management of the mobile phone, telephone and vehicle lease contracts and renewals
• The management of the monthly payroll and annual returns
• Implementation and management of pensions auto enrolment
• Regular review of budget vs actual
• Raising invoices in accordance with the relevant contracts and determining the correct VAT treatment of each new contract in conjunction with VAT advice.
• Monitoring of project spend vs budget
• Management of debit cards
• Management of employee benefits
• Annually to prepare VAWK’s :
o Statutory Accounts to audit level
o Budget and ongoing forecast
o Returns to Companies House and the Charity Commission
o Review of risk assessment
o Review of Data Protection Compliance
o Insurance review & renewal
o Annual review of accounting procedures and policies
• Quarterly prepare VAWK’s:
o Management Accounts with other supporting board papers
o Cash Flow forecast
o Financial monitoring for funders
o VAT returns including partial exemption calculations
• Ongoing
o Review VAWK investments
o Internal Control Systems
• Any other duties as required from time to time
Key Qualities:
• A broad range of experience in the accounting field, an accountancy qualification is essential
• Understanding and knowledge of the Voluntary Sector
• Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately with a wide range of people
• Excellent information management and technology skills
• Capability and willingness to adopt a hands on approach
• Excellent presentation, report writing and organizational skills
• Decision making ability, self motivated with excellent teamwork skills
• Personal commitment to diversity and equality opportunities
