Experienced care workers needed to join a team working in 4 to 5 hour shifts 7 am to 9 pm 7 days per week delivering personal care in the family home in Rainham for an active, but frail, elderly lady with severe Alzheimer's and challenging behaviour.
She needs considerable assistance and persistence with nutrition and hydration. She likes going for long walks around our large garden and interacting with the family dogs and cats so you need to be fit and enjoy walking.
Own transport essential as this is a rural location with poor public transport.
You must have a kind and persuasive manner and be experienced in coping with challenging behaviour by using distraction techniques, lots of kindness and patience.
You will be providing personal care, feeding, washing, toileting, soothing and ensuring her safety at all times including whilst walking. Also keeping her environment clean and safe.
This will not be like working for an agency, there is only 1 patient for you to care for, with whom you will need to develop a good working relationship and a clear understanding of how to interact with her positively. There will be an agreed contracted number of hours and an agreed shift pattern with 28 days paid holiday per year and a pension contribution.
If you do not have an existing DBS with update subscription you will have undergo an enhanced DBS (CRB) check.
