Temporary to provide maternity cover for up to 1 year

Children's Services works closely with the Home Office, Youth Justice Board for England and Wales and the Ministry of Justice to ensure that its regimes and designs reflect best practice in residential care to prevent offending.

Teams of committed people look after young people aged 12-17 years old who have been remanded or sentenced to periods of detention. We work closely with the Home Office, the Youth Justice Board for England and Wales and the Ministry of Justice to ensure that our approach to regimes and designs reflect best practice in residential care to prevent re-offending.

The policies and aims of our STCs are derived from the principles of child care best practice and reflect the 'Every Child Matters' agenda. The aim is to create a living environment that helps address the cycle of offending behaviour, and one that is consistent with the needs of developing the boys and girls in our care. Role Purpose
Undertakes routine and basic administrative duties and provides a professional receptionist and telephonist service to visitors and callers.

Your main responsibilities will be to:

• Type letters using a template
• Receive, welcome and process visitors in a courteous manner, ensuring that they are booked in, receive appropriate security identification and the relevant internal contact is notified
• Maintain reception area in a clean and tidy condition so that a professional image is projected
• Connect callers to their contact or the contact most relevant to the general nature of their enquiry in a timely and professional manner
• Maintain and update computer or paper based telephone and contact lists, ensuring that the latest on-line listings are available
• Book taxis as required, notify traveller once taxi has arrived so that the travel arrangements run smoothly
• Book professional visits in respect of the trainees according to established procedures

The Ideal Candidate

This role requires:

• Confident and professional when dealing with calls and visitors
• Comfortable with using the phone system and computer (after training)

Applicants will be required to attend an assessment day and complete on line testing which has been specifically designed to identify those who possess the necessary skills and competencies in line with the job description.
