The Belly Bar is Bromley’s original piercing/tattoo studio. It has been established since 2005. Their studio is located in the heart of Bromley’s busy shopping area and they are fully registered/licensed with Bromley Borough Council. Their artists can produce amazing designs and they also stock thousands of pieces of jewellery suitable for all types of piercings.
Description of Vacancy
We are looking for a keen apprentice who enjoys the artist aspect of tattooing and is able to meet and greet potential customers and advise on all aspects of the company’s artists and their portfolios. The apprentice will be required to advise on prices, prepare interesting shop displays and provide a variety of support for other members of the team.
Responsibilities
This is an exciting opportunity for an outgoing individual who is really interested in being involved in a business providing individuality via body art. We would like potential candidates to be able to create a pleasant and professional image to our customers. Some of the duties included in the role will be:-
Meeting and greeting potential customers as they enter the shop
Being able to provide information on products and prices.
Assist in preparing shop and window displays
Taking payments from customers and ensuring all records are up to date.
Assisting other team members including sterilisation of jewellery and tools.
Ensuring shop cleanliness at all times

£101.63 per week
Hours
37.5 hours over 5 days per week – days to be agreed with the manager

Qualifications Required
Minimum of Level 1 in both literacy and numeracy or GCSE equivalent.
Future Prospects
Dependent on the candidate
Training Provided
On the job training with the employer whilst working towards the Apprenticeship Framework – consisting of the NVQ Level 2 in Customer Services, Technical Certificate and Functional Skills if appropriate. Regular work based assessments/observations carried out by Kent Training & Apprenticeships Tutor Assessor, to determine competency and meet with Awarding Body standards.
Additional Detail
From the 1st October 2012 a National Minimum Wage (NMW) for apprentices was introduced for young people aged 16-18 and those aged over 19 in the first year of their Apprenticeship. The rate is £2.68 per hour. The NMW applies to time working plus time spent training as this is also part of the Apprenticeship. Anyone not covered by the age category above will be entitled to the NMW appropriate to their age.
Important Information
The employer has asked that you do not contact them direct. Doing so could jeopardise your application. You will be responsible for your travel expenses to and from your place of work. Therefore, you must have the means to get to your place of work on a daily basis whilst waiting for your first wages to be paid.
Training on the Apprenticeships Programme for 16 to 18 year olds is a priority and fully-funded by Government. Training for Apprenticeships for those over this age is part funded, with employers expected to make a part or full contribution.
