One Call Plant Hire are looking for a Depot Manager for their Medway Depot, Kent. In its 40 years to date, One Call Hire has successfully evolved from a local family business into a £30m turnover Plant Hire & Sales operation, with 8 depots currently providing national coverage. This growth has been driven by an understanding that “Only the best service will do” whilst at the same time recognising that this service must be seriously competitive. The company has the youngest fleet of machinery in the UK and has invested over £40million in the last 3 years.
The role will primarily be to manage the hire desk staff, transport, workshop and all other operational staff at the Depot.
• Ensure correct systems and procedures are followed by all Depot staff
• Ensure that the Depot staff deliver a high standard of customer service at all times
• Maintain and nurture existing business
• Manage KPI’s and overall Depot performance
• Asset management
• Comply with H&S regulations and legislation
• First line HR, training and employee product awareness
• Liaise with colleagues to optimise efficiency and Depot excellence
• Ensuring HGV fleet comply with current laws
• Saturday attendance may be required
The ideal candidate must be customer focused and a well organised individual and have familiarity with construction plant. They must also have:
• A proven track record in a management position, expertise in being able to lead, coach and develop a team
• A hands on approach to management, knowing everything that is going on in relation to the Depot, as well as leading from the front
• Full Driving Licence
• Local area knowledge for the Depot area served
• Relevant industry experience
• Proven track record in employee management
• An ability to achieve goals and objectives
• Excellent customer service skills
• Good communication skills including numeracy and literacy
• First rate knowledge of Hire Software
• Use of Excel and Word is essential
• Ability to influence and negotiate effectively at all levels
• Ability to work under pressure to set deadlines and prioritise tasks
• A confident and flexible attitude
