Department Manager (Manufacturing)

Super permanent position with an established manufacturing organisation and key employer in the area, for an experienced departmental manager.

Managing and working within an exceptionally busy team, you will be required to manage 3 departments ranging for 12 to 14 people in total. Close control of efficiency and time management is critical to this role, along with good attention to detail, flexibility and the ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team. The department has a significant number of challenges and provides a just in time service that requires a hands on approach to management and the ability to think on your feet.

Essential qualities and experience:
• Previous team management experience with similar size teams
• The ability to take accountability for the running of 3 keys departments to ensure the team meets agreed delivery, quality, cost and efficiency objectives
• Working knowledge of leading continuous improvement in particular waist and quality management.
• Experience of meeting and exceeding budget and quality control targets.
• Production scheduling experience (requires close day by day and hour by hour management)
• Familiarity with ISO9001
• Through understanding of Health and Safety, COSHH and Environmental standards
• Previous experience from within a Metal Manufacturing workshop or manufacturing unit is essential, along with an understanding of the Powder Coating process

This role is a physical hand on management role therefore a good level of general fitness is key.

OWN TRANSPORT IS ESSENTIAL

Working hours will be Monday to Friday 8am – 530pm and every other Saturday morning, however due to the demands of the department and the nature of the role overtime will be required throughout the week.
