You will be required to perform clerical duties and co-ordinate work flow and to provide support to all health care professionals within the multi disciplinary team.

·First point of contact for all patients/visitors to the department ensure a welcome environment and respond to any queries helpfully and informatively.

·Checking appointments. Booking out packets where necessary and adding patient information sheets and audit slips if required.

·Registering of patients and attendances on computer.

·Deal with any post and faxes

·Checking patient details and updating on PAS.

·Working flexibly across the organisation, covering the work of colleagues during peak periods or absence

·Collecting, sorting and prioritising incoming mail.

·Dealing with Private and Category II patients and associated paperwork.

·To work as part of an appointment team making all patient appointments and dealing with patient enquiries.

·Ensure that all appointments are booked within a timely manner

·To ensure appointed request forms are filed correctly and within the agreed time limits.

·Liaise with Consultants and radiographers as to availability of staff for examination lists.

·To monitor waiting lists, waiting times and DNAs as per local and Trust Policies.

·Maintenance of room diaries.

·Receiving and monitoring of blood results to ensure timely appointments are given.

To be aware of and comply with Trust policies. To have knowledge of and implement all National and Trust standards and policies.




The training to be provided will give you the opportunity to complete a level 2 business administration apprenticeship for the duration of 15 months.

•Self sufficient
•Flexible and positive approach to work
•Friendly and approachable

Skills required:
•Organised approach to work
•Working knowledge of MS Office
•Ability to work as part of a team
•Be able to work accurately and efficiently
•Good communication skills
•Standard keyboard skills
•Excellent organisational skills
•Good interpersonal skills
•Ability to quickly acquire new knowledge
•Knowledge of medical terminology is desirable

GCSE Grade A-C in Maths and English (or equivalent)
Computer literate including Word and Excel

Working week: Monday-Friday 9am-5pm (37.5 hours)
