My client is a leading multi-disciplinary construction and property consultancy. They provide a definitive range of services to the UK building and construction industry covering chartered building & quantity surveying, project management, architecture & master planning, civil & structural engineering, mechanical & electrical engineering, sustainability and health & safety.
They are currently looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their growing team based in Orpington.
Main Duties (Technical):
• Primarily working with a group leader undertaking various QS activities associated with the Cost Management Initiative within the Group
• Estimating costs, Cost Planning, Measurement and preparation of Final Accounts
• Working on New Build, Design and Build Contracts, acting as a Project Quantity Surveyor
• Assist in development and maintenance of Cost Database
• Carry out project monitoring
• Prepare value for money and assist with tender reports under guidance of Team Leader
• Carry out Life Cycle costing exercises
• Liaise and report to group leader to ensure workloads can be balanced and agreed deadlines met
Key Responsibilities:
• Maintain regular contract with all clients at the appropriate level
• Undertake client services in a professional manner
• Keep group leader appraised of important issues
• Ensure that training needs are identified and addressed
• Report progress to group leader
• Manage workload
• Have attention of project fee stages
• Maintain awareness of current developments
• On a daily basis deal with Client related issues and provide professional services as required
• Each month ensure that progress reports and fee plans are fully updated and completed and report to group leader
• Attend group meetings on a regular basis not less than 3 months
• Attend one to one reviews at half yearly intervals
Competencies:
• The Quantity Surveyor will be qualified to the required level to their existing duties but will be expected to develop their competency through experience and continued learning.
