The Student Services Department is seeking to appoint a Finance Officer, a key post within the Office of the Director of Student Services, the primary function of which is to provide direct support to the Director of Student Services in administrative matters and financial functions of the department, as well as support to the wider department. The post-holder will be responsible for the management of the Department’s finances, working closely with the Office Manager.
The Person
The successful candidate will be educated to degree level or will have an equivalent professional qualification or experience. In addition, an accounting qualification is essential: as a minimum applicants should be AAT qualified. or have completed Foundation stage of a CCAB professional accountancy qualification, or hold a higher education qualification which qualifies the holder for exemption from the foundation stage of a CCAB.
Experience of implementing financial procedures and managing complex budgets is essential, along with knowledge of Agresso or a similar finance package and strong communication and customer services skills.

A network of services operate on the Canterbury and Medway campuses of the University of Kent, to meet the needs of students by providing high quality specialised guidance and welfare advice. This network forms the Student Services Department, which provides clear information outlining the services on offer, achieves the co-ordination and delivery of these services and sustains collaborative working relationships with all other student support departments on campus.
