Social Enterprise Kent (SEK) is a successful and well-established business based in East Kent, delivering a range of employability and training programmes. It is now looking to recruit an Employer Engagement Officer who will work in the group’s Employment Support team, helping people to find and keep local jobs.

This role is focused on building links with local employers to break down barriers to successful employment and skills development. A proactive and enthusiastic attitude, with a passion to helping people who want to help themselves, whilst understanding the real issues faced by local employers is essential. It would be an ideal role for a ambitious new graduate wanting to work in the social enterprise sector.

The Employer Engagement Officer will be responsible for the following:

• To develop and manage effective sustainable relationships with employers in Canterbury and Thanet and identify vacancy opportunities for work placements, apprenticeships and permanent positions

• To promote employment activities to employers through direct and indirect engagement, including visits and phone calls

• To interact with customers in a professional business manner

• To provide support to employers in line with business processes to ensure clients secure sustainable paid employment ensuring job start and sustained employment targets are met.

• To carry out research to identify new markets and new business opportunities

• To match candidates to employment/placement opportunities, and provide effective support to candidates and employers to maximise employment and retention success

• To develop and maintain excellent local networks with key stakeholders such as the chambers of commerce, job centres, local third sector organisations and colleges

• To work closely with the group’s learning and development team, helping clients and employers to access training courses, funding and vocational support where needed to support employment opportunities

• To develop an excellent understanding of the business community and their employment needs in Canterbury and Thanet, and work with partners to help fill those needs

• To identify and facilitate support needed to overcome barriers to work, eg access to ICT, further training or advice needs

• Establish and maintain strong working relationships with employers to ensure repeat business
